Chenin Blanc is a versatile white-wine grape variety and is most commonly associated with France's Loire Valley. Its high acidity levels mean it can be vinified in several different styles: as lusciously sweet, botrytis-affected dessert wines, light, honeyed sparkling wines and as full-bodied, still white wines.
Esk Valley has long been associated with Chenin Blanc and for many years we were one of a very select group promoting this noble grape of the Loire, occasionally adding a sweet bottling to our offering. Classic characteristics of Chenin Blanc are honey, quince, stone fruit and pineapple and it is best eaten with seafood, Asian style dishes or with fruit-based desserts for our Late Harvest Chenin Blanc.
